First year at U of T St. George - how to pick courses?
I am looking at the online calendar for the Faculty of Arts and Science at St. George campus and I'm a little confused about how the whole system works. What is meant by Type 1, 2 or 3? Hod do I know which courses I can take during my first year? How many can I take? Can someone please briefly explain the process of this? Thanks.
I enrolled in Criminology, but there are no criminology courses until seocnd year.
You don't have to worry about Types 1,2,3 until after first year when you choose your subject post (majors/minors/ specialists).
You'll be taking ten courses which will come to 5 credits by the end of first year. You're better off choosing courses that are labelled XXX1XX. i.e. ANT103. The "one" indicates 'first year' courses, there are also courses denoted by a 2, 3, 4.. though these courses don't necessarily correspond to year of study, they represent the order in which courses should be taken.
